Junior professors and tenure track professors at the University of Konstanz

In 2003, the University of Konstanz was one of the first German universities to introduce the position of junior professor. Since then, around 120 junior professors have been appointed (including five junior lecturers). The evaluation process is entirely transparent and regulated by the procedural regulations for junior professorships and junior lectureships without tenure track and the tenure track statutes, respectively. Junior professors benefit from the university’s “Konstanz Code of Practice for Postdoctoral Researchers”.

The University of Konstanz introduced tenure track professorships in 2010. According to the Baden-Wurttemberg State Law on Higher Education, we offer W1 junior professorships with tenure track to permanent W3 professorships, or W1 junior lectureships with tenure track to permanent W2 lectureships. The University of Konstanz will establish the tenure track professorships as a career path across all university departments and has successfully participated in the Joint Federal Government-L?nder Tenure-Track Programme. The university has set out its plans for future academic careers in the concept "Attractive and reliable career paths for excellent researchers".
