Studying with a disability or chronic illness

First year students face many challenges – moving to a new town, making new friends, keeping up with courses, managing one’s time and passing exams. If, on top of these tasks, you live with a disability, health condition or learning impairment, the path from enrolment to graduation may require additional time and effort to overcome barriers.

Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
Article 1 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The University of Konstanz works to continually remove barriers and to improve the study conditions for all students with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Our goal is to enable independent, equal participation for all in university study and student life. We provide different information and advisory services to support students as they complete their studies, whether they suffer from a chronic or psychological illness or have a visual, auditory, physical or learning impairment.

Meet our representatives for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses for an individual consultation and ask them any questions you might have about study and life situations, requesting academic adjustments and accessing additional services.

Get in touch with us or make an appointment for a personal consultation.
