    2024 Nature Positive Photo Contest

  • A role model for sustainability

    On 8 November 2023, the University of Konstanz received the National ESD-Award (Education for Sustainable Development) from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Commission for UNESCO. The university's overall concept for education and sustainability convinced the jury.

    The University of Konstanz is once again among the most recycling-friendly universities in Germany. The University of Konstanz took fifth place in the Paper Atlas University Competition 2023, as recently published by the Initiative Pro Recyclingpapier (IPR) in the Paper Atlas 2023.

    How we save energy

    Since spring of 2022, the University of Konstanz has been actively reducing its energy usage. The university has been able to reduce its natural gas usage by 43% when compared to the previous year.

    The earth's resources are limited. The University of Konstanz as an institution as well as everyone working here contribute in many ways to maintaining earth as a place worth living in. Our university defines the term of sustainable development very broadly in accordance with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations building on a globally shared and democratically legitimated understanding of sustainability. For us, sustainability involves the economy, society, politics and ecology.
